Snowflake today announced general availability of Elastic Channels for Snowpipe Streaming, a feature that simplifies streaming data ingestion from applications, devices, and services into Snowflake-managed tables or Iceberg tables. The new GA release eliminates the need for separate land-and-ingest pipelines by providing durable acknowledgments once data is persisted and before it’s query-ready. The SDK handles batching and transient retries, while Snowflake scales ingestion and manages channel lifecycles. At GA, Elastic Channels support up to 20 GB/s per table, with data becoming queryable in as little as five seconds, depending on workload; internal testing indicated throughput up to 40 GB/s in a single table. Snowflake plans additional posts to detail benchmarks and architecture. This development targets organizations with connected products and industrial systems, aiming to reduce latency, simplify operations, and potentially lower ownership costs.
